125 Years of Excellence: How Berner Industrier Stays Ahead with NetSuite

Christian Berner AB, now known as Berner Industrier AB, has a rich history spanning over 125 years. Founded in 1897 by the young Norwegian entrepreneur Christian Berner, the company began by importing and developing technical solutions for the brewing industry in Gothenburg. Despite its long history, the company has always been at the forefront of technology, including its approach to ERP systems.

A visionary and an entrepreneur, Christian Berner
Christian Berner, an ambitious young man from Molde, learned several languages early on and sought new opportunities when educational offerings in his hometown were limited. At the age of 18, he secured a job at an import company in Kristiania (now Oslo), where his language skills quickly became a key asset in customer relations. In 1897, 20-year-old Christian arrived in Sweden to explore expansion opportunities for his employer. Finding conditions unfavourable, he proposed starting a new company for the Swedish market. With 500 kronor in start-up capital from his father, Christian established the company and opened an office at Magasinsgatan 10 in Gothenburg. The rest, as they say, is history. The core values that Christian Berner established, such as personal contact and a deep understanding of customer needs, remain central to the company’s operations today.

Today, Berner Industrier is a leading provider of technical solutions in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, primarily operating in three areas: vibrations, noise and water supply.

Berner Industrier and NetSuite
Berner Industrier has been using NetSuite for some time and the transition to NetSuite has led to more efficient processes, with increased automation and fewer manual steps. The centralized data platform provides improved insight and control, while the scalability and cloud-based solutions promote flexibility and easy access to data.

We spoke briefly with Fredrik Berndtsson, CIO at Christian Berner.

Can you explain the advantages you see with NetSuite?
”We came from a system that didn’t sufficiently support our operations. Previously, manual data adjustments were required, which was time-consuming and inefficient. With NetSuite, everything is connected, making the daily work easier and onboarding new employees simpler. The financial aspect is one of the greatest advantages, but inventory management has also significantly improved. The system also offers a high degree of transparency through simple and effective data searches, increasing access to important information.”

How has it been to work with the consultants at Noresca?
”We believe that Noresca has a very high level of competence in NetSuite. They quickly familiarize themselves with our challenges and provide guiding answers or suggestions for improvements. We appreciate their structure and way of working, as we at Berner Industrier operate in similar ways. We both focus on the customer and always keep our promises.
